Did you the know the first earth day was officially created in 1970, to raise awareness public awareness about the planet's environment and pollution. This was a response from seeing the devastating damage from an oil spill in Santa Barbara the year prior.
The flowering cherry in this photo is a slightly older photo and the plant is no longer in bloom but thought it was fitting for today since I never had a chance to write about it!

This New Zealand native makes beautiful arching, flower clusters that cascade during the spring and despite its delicate looking fern shaped leaves, this plant will tolerate being in full sun on the coast, but if you are further inland, it will prefer half day sun.
One of my favorite plants that signals the arrival of spring, this anemones are a fantastic way to add a burst of color to your shady parts of the garden!!!

Tangerines and oranges are beloved during this time of year, because tangerines in Chinese sounds similar to "luck" and oranges sounds similar to "wealth".
A little side note, we announced on our fan page that we will have our annual citrus tasting event! Come by and try out of varieties of citrus you might have never tried before! Also the link will show you how you can join a raffle where you can win a citrus tree!!!

In a couple of months this plant will make a fruit that is used in Japanese cuisine, it's a childhood favorite of mine, the sour plum also known as Umeboshi.
This cool gadget called the plant amp, can hold your cell phone and because of the shape of the glass, it amplifies the music that is playing on your phone! No batteries required and looks awesome!!

Hey everyone we just wanted to let you know we will open today from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm in observance of Martin Luther King Jr Day.
"Be a bush if you can't be a tree. If you can't be a highway, just be a trail. If you can't be a sun, be a star. For it isn't by size that you win or fail. Be the best whatever you are. "

I made a little poem, to showcase what's new at the nursery! (Apologies in advance to any poet's out there...)
As you can tell I'm not a poet or a writer... I like to play with dirt.

It's officially the first day of winter! (News to me, since it's been so cold for the last couple of weeks...)
Additionally, we do have a cold front coming this Friday, with temperatures expected to be in the high 30's to low 40's, please make sure bundle up your plants up to protect them from the cold.
For those unfamiliar with winterizing their yards, come on by and we can teach you all about it!
